Pikes Peak Firearms Coalition

FIVE STEPS

TO PROTECT OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS

Today's political climate demands that all gun owners get involved in the defense of our firearm rights, and every law-abiding citizen has the ability to make a positive impact. No matter what your background, you can contribute to the efforts in defense of our Second Amendment rights!

Competitive shooters, hunters, club members, and all those who cherish our firearm freedoms can play a vital role in preserving our freedoms for future generations by getting involved. No task is too small, and whatever time you can give is time enough and can make a difference! Here are some suggestions to get you started!

5 Quick & Easy Steps

  1. Register to vote! The 2000 elections will be the most critical elections the gun-owning community has ever seen! We have the opportunity to not only add to our pro-gun majorities in Congress, but to elect a pro-gun President who will work to repair the damage done by the Clinton/Gore Administration to our right to keep and bear arms. If pro-gun candidates are going to win or keep their offices, however, they're going to need your vote! Protect your right to keep and bear arms by exercising another Constitutional right -- your right to vote. Voting is your voice in the political process -- use it or lose it!

  2. Monitor your local media! Despite our recent ballot box gains, and an active pro-gun agenda in the states, we still face a severely biased, anti-gun media. One of the most effective ways to put the facts about firearms ownership before the people is to watch for any anti-gun articles, editorials or reports -- and respond! Postcards and letters to your local newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations carry weight and get results!

  3. Participate in radio & TV call-in programs! With pro-gun bills making their way through the legislative process across the country, and federal gun ban repeal efforts in the U.S. Congress, many TV and radio talk shows are focusing their shows on "gun control." Many of these programs allow the general public to call in and express their views. Take advantage of these forums and make your voice heard!

  4. Get Involved with PPFC! Attend our monthly meetings. Every meeting we will keep you up to date on what's happening. We invite our elected representatives to speak directly to you and you have the chance to talk to them one-on-one. Check the PPFC Web site often, especially the Alerts! section for the latest news. Join Doug Davis' E-mail alert list to get the latest news e-mailed directly to your in-box: Doug Davis Alerts

  5. Spread the word! Make sure your community is aware of firearm-related legislation and encourage them to get involved! Take advantage of the natural allies in your own area: family, friends, fellow shooters, gun shops and shooting ranges. Invite them to a PPFC meeting.
