bullet House Bill 04-1012: Background Checks at Gun Shows (GOOD) by Representative Rose and Senator Jones. Deletes the phrase "or attempts to transfer" from the requirement that a gun show vendor first obtain an instant background check before transferring a firearm at a gun show. bullet House Bill 04-1281: Concerning the Authority for Certain Persons to Carry Firearms Concealed (GOOD) by Representative Brophy and Senator Hillman. Creates an exception to the offense of carrying a concealed weapon if the person can legally possess a firearm under the laws of Colorado and of the United States. Grants a person who carries a concealed handgun under the exception all of the carrying rights of a person who holds a permit to carry a concealed handgun. bullet Senate Bill 04-158: Concerning the Safe Storage of Firearms to Prevent Juvenile Possession of Firearms (BAD) by Senator Gordon. Creates a misdemeanor for negligent storage of a firearm if a firearm owner or custodian stores the firearm, the firearm comes into the possession of a juvenile, and the juvenile discharges the firearm and kills himself, herself, or another person.
