telephone solicitations made by automatic dialing machines or by paid

PPFC comment: No one likes telephone solicitation calls, but this bill
would further erode our political free speech.

House Bill 08-1190:
Eliminates requirement for CBI to be open for 12 hours on Sundays to process
instant background checks (UNDER REVIEW)
by Representative J. Kerr (R-28) and Senator Taylor (R-8). Currently, CBI
is required to be "open for business" (run background checks) for a minimum
of 12 hours per day except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The NICS "manual"
requires state points of contact (CBI for us) to be open from 10:00am to
9:00pm Monday through Saturday and "normal retail business hours" (not
defined) on Sundays. HB08-1190 will modify the CBI required open hours to conform with the NICS requirement. The impact of this change would depend on how "normal retail business hours" are defined for Sunday. I suspect there are very few FFLs that are open on Sundays after 5 or 6 pm. The stated purpose of the bill is to allow CBI to better utilize their personnel to staff up during higher background check times. On the face, this seems reasonable until the government defines "normal business hours" on Sunday to be something like Noon - 4pm. Read Text of Bill (Requires Acrobat Reader) Status:
