SPEAKING OF THE 2nd AMENDMENT.

I am active in the Second Amendment/gun control debate and do public speaking on this issue in my spare time, at no charge. I speak to just about any club, school, media or organization that wants to learn more about this subject. I will lecture, debate, lead a discussion, or simply answer questions. The public will continue to hear a lot about this debate from the media. Much will be incorrect. I attempt to present a calm, rational, factual discussion of this subject from the pro-gun side, something many people have never heard.

I have a bachelor of science degree with a concentration in U.S. History from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. I have lived in eight states and in Europe. I currently write a regular article for the Lawyer’s Second Amendment Society based in Los Angeles. And I have attended the last five National Gun Rights Policy Conferences in San Francisco, Dallas, Washington D.C., Denver and Seattle. I am not a politician, a lobbyist, or recruiter for any organization, just a concerned citizen. I started this "hobby" after continually meeting people who based their beliefs on false information.

I believe that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to own firearms to citizens, and that restrictions on this right should be no greater than on other Constitutionally guaranteed rights. My goal is not that everyone agree with me, but that they understand the facts and reasoning of the debate. In the past five years I have spoken to many groups, including:

* more than once

I will tailor my presentation to the audience’s wishes. I appear in jacket and tie. I use overhead slides, handouts, audio recordings, and other aids. I have talked from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Topics I commonly discuss include:

bullet Original intent of the 2nd Amendment
bullet What is the "militia?"
bullet Supreme Court rulings
bullet Gun control arguments
bullet Gun control tactics
bullet Back door banning
bullet Common media myths
bullet Hypocrites
bullet "Assault" weapons hoax
bullet Recent gun control laws
bullet registration
bullet concealed carry
bullet "Junk" guns
bullet waiting period
bullet rationing
bullet licensing/permits

Don’t worry, I’m not a radical "gun nut". I’ve included a photo to prevent thoughts of a toothless, bearded, cammo wearing, militia-leading skinhead. Actually, I have most of my teeth. I am one of the many "normal" people who are concerned about the erosion of our rights, and I’ve found that too many people do not understand our history or our rights. I am convinced that we will only regain our rights by educating the public. The truth is only a tool if it is heard.

ARMED and FREE...So Far,

Ed Monk
